Efficiently heat specifically planned volumes of water.

 Boilers

Condon Total Comfort technicians are well-versed in the specialty functions of boilers. Often called hydronic heating systems within the industry, boilers are designed to efficiently heat specifically planned volumes of water that is then distributed throughout the home, providing cozy radiant heat from free-standing radiators, baseboard units or luxurious in-floor systems. These units also effectively preheat domestic water.

Lennox

The GWB8-E by Lennox offers an efficiency of up to 83.9% AFUE. Lennox boilers are designed to easily integrate into an existing radiator, baseboard, or in-floor heating system, offering energy-efficient comfort through even the coldest winters. Built to last with the uncompromising durability of the heat exchanges and burners, automatic temperature-adjustment capabilities, and electronic ignition for improved efficiency and dependability.

Boilers & AFUE ratings.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates boilers and furnaces using the Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency (or "AFUE") standard. Like miles per gallon in your car, AFUE is a way to understand how well your boiler or furnace uses energy. AFUE ratings appear as percentages; the higher the AFUE, the more efficient the unit and the greater your energy savings.

New technology saves money.

Older boilers operate in a range of 56% to 70% efficiency, which sadly translates into 30% to 44% of your energy dollars being unnecessarily wasted. These outdated boilers are prone to needing expensive repairs and typically depend on heavy heat exchangers, a continuous pilot light and use natural airflow for combustion gases. Moderate efficiency boilers of 80% to 83% AFUE have exhaust fans for precision combustion control, electronic ignition and a compact design.

Let the weather help save energy.

One terrific energy dollar saving solution CTC trained technicians can help you with is installing an optional outdoor reset control unit. This allows the boiler to "dial down" to as low as 60% of its capacity when sustained warmer outside temperatures are detected. Likewise, when the temperature falls, the active reset control alerts the system to engage the capacity needed to reach the desired indoor temperature.

Maintenance is the key to long boiler life.

Proper proactive maintenance helps to protect your warranty rights and extend the life of your hard-working boiler. A comprehensive inspection of your boiler system includes testing the circulator pumps, condenser, valves, and expansion tank, and checking the operating water temperatures.

Staying on top of scheduling these important service intervals is made easy when you enjoy the peace of mind that comes from participating in our popular Comfort Assurance Program. There are two plan options from which to select depending on your preferences:

  1. The free enrollment Standard CAP Plan

  2. The all-inclusive, affordable, pre-paid Premium CAP Plan

Both offer planned annual inspections, cleaning and priority service whenever needed. To set up your worry-free professional maintenance plan, simply give CTC a call. We will gladly explain your savings options and schedule your initial service visit to get you started.

Water quality affects boilers.

Because boilers use water as the medium for heat distribution, it is important to analyze and control the level of common minerals being introduced by the water source that can affect the function and life of your boiler heating system. Hard water that contains calcium, lime or iron can leave scale and rust deposits in the boiler condensers as well as your baseboards, radiators or hot water pipes.

Condon Total Comfort technicians are trained and equipped to identify potential issues and recommend ways to extend the useful lifetime of any boiler, with action steps including:

  • Ensuring that filters are installed and cleaned

  • Ensuring that existing water treatment options are tied into the boiler's loop

  • Minimizing/removing rust and scale within the system

Better water quality means better heat transfer and more efficient overall heating.
